Editorial Reviews One of the world's finest and most distinctive horn players, a musical celebrity who built up a dedicated global following thanks to his unique blend of jazz and South African styles. It may seem extraordinary that these tracks have been allowed to disappear, but this remarkable 7 vinyl set helps to put that right/5(20).

Hugh Masekela ‎– Masekela. Jazz, Funk / Soul. Vinyl, LP, Album. VERY GOOD PLUS The record has been handled and played infrequently or very carefully. Nottoo far from perfect. A slight scratch that did not affect play would be acceptably VG+ for most Rating: % positive.

The LP is a little short on time & could of have had another tune on side one. The musicians are: Hugh Masekela on trumpet & singing, Al Abreu on sax, Henry Franklin on bass, Cecil Barnard on piano, Chuck Carter on drums & percussion. The sax player is fantastic! The main highlight of the LP is the Spanish tune "Senior Coraza" on side two/5(4).

The Bix Beiderbecke-inspired movie Young Man With a Horn convinced Masekela to take up the trumpet. Archbishop Trevor Huddleston gave him his first trumpet, and Masekela began working.
