"They got their Steely Dan t-shirts" Countdown To Esctasy was an album that I initially struggled with. After the radio-friendly songs of their debut, Steely Dan decided to stretch everything, cut a set of longer than average songs (only two tracks here clock in at under five minutes) and put an increasing amount of focus on the technical ability of the band.

The genius of Steely Dan expresses itself in full force with Countdown to Ecstasy. Each song is composed with supreme detail and tightness that you just don't get from most music these days. For me it just beats Can't Buy a Thrill into being my favourite SD album, as it is consistent throughout and never lessens its pace of pure jazz rock bliss/5().

Rick from Plainwell, mich, Mi The Eagles are not referenced on Show Biz Kids as a previous poster stated, wearing my Steely Dan tee as I write--El Supremo; Paige from Crestline, Ca I don't know exactly why, but I'm drawn back to this song over and over again. Maybe it's the driving sound. Great song by one of the most under-rated non-bands of all.

"Show Biz Kids" was such an utterly bizarre choice for the first single from Countdown to Ecstasy that one has to assume that Donald Fagen and Walter Becker chose it deliberately as a veiled affront to ABC Records and anyone who expected "Do It Again" redux. Although the song features a stellar slide guitar solo (by guest Rick Derringer instead of group members Denny Dias and Jeff "Skunk.
